New details and images emerged for the BeltLine-backed affordable building at 579 Garson Drive in South Buckhead. Final plans call for a podium building with 130 apartments and 10,300 square feet of commercial space over a two-story, 100-space garage, on 2.68 acres along Peachtree Creek within walking distance of MARTA's Lindbergh station.

The BeltLine put a $2 million loan against roughly $43 million in equity. It counts toward a program that has built or preserved 4,425 affordable units, 79 percent of the 5,600 targeted by 2030.

Why it matters

Buckhead has the least affordable housing on the trail, so a fully affordable building there is the harder half of the BeltLine promise.
