Costco anchors a $200 million redevelopment of Stone Mountain's old Olympic tennis venue

A 150,000-square-foot Costco opens in August on the site that hosted 1996 Olympic tennis, with 248 apartments to follow next door.

Fuqua Development is finishing Mountain Marketplace, a 31-acre, roughly $200 million mixed-use project on West Park Place Boulevard built on the former Stone Mountain Tennis Center, an Olympic venue in 1996 that had sat as an underused parking and storage lot for a former Super Target since.

A Costco exceeding 150,000 square feet anchors the site and is set to open in August, alongside Chick-fil-A, Whataburger, a bank and roughly an acre of green space with a 10-foot multi-use path. Greystar has joined as residential partner, building Flats at Mountain Marketplace, 248 units on six acres, with leasing expected to start in November 2027 and construction finishing early 2028.

Developer Jeff Fuqua previously built Brookhaven's Costco-anchored TOWN Brookhaven in 2010; this is his second attempt at the same formula in metro Atlanta.

Why it matters

It's the second Costco-anchored district Fuqua has built in the region, and it's landing in the same submarket where a rezoning fight over the old Village Square mall is happening at the same time (see Watchlist).
