Decide DeKalb approved a $588,168 Urban Renewal Fund grant to cover design and soft costs for a bridge carrying pedestrians and cyclists over I-85 in Brookhaven. The 14-foot-wide, grade-separated crossing would connect Emory Executive Park with the Peachtree Creek Greenway and the wider trail network taking shape in North Druid Hills.
Right-of-way, easement and environmental work is expected in 2027. The city is targeting construction in 2028 and completion in 2029.
Why it matters
A single grade-separated crossing is what stitches a string of disconnected trails into a network, and this one would tie Emory's office campus into the Peachtree Creek Greenway for the first time.
